Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The incumbent performs diagnostic imaging procedures according to the written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician and within the scope of his or her certification under the direction of the Imaging department leadership and the Medical Director of Radiology. Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current California Radiologic Technologist license with Fluoroscopic permit
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Diagnostic Radiology
  • Certificate or Associate's degree
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an approved school or training facility
  • Combination of education and experience which provides the special skills listed
  • Knowledge of:
    • Anatomy and physiology for Imaging including cross sectional relationships medical terminology relating to radiology principles of operation and care of diagnostic imaging machines and accessory equipment
    • Current accepted diagnostic radiologic procedural radiation and MRI safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public, film processing systems, mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements, patient examination preparation, use and hazards of diagnostic contrast materials, modality accreditation requirements
  • Ability to:
    • Minimize radiation exposure to patients, self and other persons
    • Perform general and specialized radiographic procedures which meet the department's standard of quality,
      recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process
    • Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors and the public, maintain confidentiality of patient records and information, calm and reassure those who may be distressed by the examination or
      procedure
    • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel, work
      effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
    • Organize work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records, maintain a high
      degree of accuracy in procedural detail and required records
    • Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions, ensure and maintain
      modality accreditation requirements
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • American Registery of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Radiography, Computered Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
