The Community Banking Assistant Vice President leads the Community Banking team comprised of the Financial Education, Workplace Financial Wellness, business advocacy and community engagement programs. This performance-driven position is responsible for the development and execution of communications, community outreach and sales strategies focused on attracting and engaging end-users, the regional workforce and communities in which we operate to drive and achieve SAFE’s community engagement and corporate goals. This role will also ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are embedded into the community outreach programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Growth

Lead the development and implementation of an annual strategic plan for Community Banking with an emphasis on attaining corporate and other identified departmental goals including the support of DEI initiatives.

Serve as marketing and sales manager for the Community Banking team, collaborating with stakeholders within Community Banking, Marketing, Compliance, Retail and other Line of Business Leads to achieve annual growth goals via account-based marketing and sales techniques

Identify annual SMART goals and objectives for Community Banking

Create and manage annual Community Banking Dashboard to track, monitor and communicate progress on established goals and deliverables and deliver to the VP of Marketing and Communications and other senior leaders as applicable

Provide direction and support to the Sr. Manager Community & Financial Education and Sr. Relationship & Sales Manager as it relates to strategic development and deployment of financial education programming, employer engagement/relationship management activities, and business development campaigns designed to achieve annual corporate goals

Develop Financial Education courses and schedule to create lead generation opportunities for specific lines of business including SAFE Financial Services, Private Banking, Mortgage, Auto

Lead annual and monthly sales forecasting activities and set performance measures for the Workplace Financial Wellness, Financial Education and Community Education portfolios

Oversee Community Banking’s Salesforce dashboard of performance, engagement, relationship management and business development

Provide oversight for SAFE Credit Union’s Speakers Bureau, including development of strategic growth and promotional plans, and lead generation, tracking, and reporting systems

Collaborate with marketing and internal product managers to create and maintain standing offers for Community Banking use

Lead the development and implementation of Community Banking’s Annual Sales, Community Engagement and Financial Education Strategic Plan

Develop and present the $1M+ annual operating budget for Community Banking for Executive Team and Board of Director approval

Manage and maintain the Community Banking annual budget to include routine expense approval and budget forecasting/reforecasting in the designated accounting and reporting systems

Meet monthly with the finance liaison assigned to Community Banking and review budget vs actuals, expense timing and adjustments as needed.

Work with finance to monitor incentive payment and recognition programs to ensure that plans support business and personnel objectives

Cross-train department leaders for back-up support on budgeting process, bill payment and record keeping

Approve and manage on-time and accurate delivery of department expense reports for direct reports and other team members as needed

Review and approve financial education and wellness curriculum (presentation, print, digital)

Develop strategic plan of engagement and oversight for the employer group portfolio and related marketing and promotional efforts

Leadership

Initiate and direct proactive collaboration with the Executive Team and line of business leaders to meet operational and corporate goals and objectives including DEI initiatives

Serve as thought leader in the areas of financial education and wellness, community outreach and engagement and sales

Develop timely and relevant written content related to financial education and wellness for dissemination to internal and external audiences, including content for blogs, social media, podcasts, print and broadcast news media, and other community-facing channels etc.

Responsible for leading and managing the Sr Manager of Community and Financial Education, and Sr. Relationship & Sales Manager

Provide oversight and final approval for the Community Banking team’s individual SMART Goals and tactical performance plans to achieve sales ,operational departmental and corporate goals

Plan and execute professional development, team building and other activities to promote a motivating and high-performing culture and engaged employees

Complete annual performance evaluations for direct reports

Provide feedback for inclusion in the performance evaluations of Community Banking team members

Act as lead for Community Banking and corporate projects with internal stakeholders, For example: Salesforce, Compliance, Core Conversion etc.

Maintain proactive communication with the Executive Team and Board of Directors

Manage and delegate to dotted-line employees as needed

Manage payroll, timecards, -required training completion and approval for direct reports. Provide back-up support to managers as needed

Manage and maintain positive and constructive relationships with vendors and third-party partners

Negotiate and recommend contract terms and conditions for Community Banking’s vendors and third-party partners

Shepard vendor and third-party contracts through the approval process and submit invoices for timely review, approval and payment

Community Presence & Relationships

Develop, implement, and administer strategies and programs, including a DEI focus, to enhance SAFE Credit Union’s brand awareness and reputation in the community

Key decision maker on SAFE sponsored community engagement, as it pertains to business growth and advocacy

Promote thought leadership of SAFE Credit Union board of directors, senior executives and Subject Matter Experts throughout the community via speaking engagements and written content

Support the brand identity of SAFE Credit Union in interactions with community leaders, existing and prospective employer groups and members, associations and local business chambers

Create public relations/media opportunities through partnerships, new and existing community relationships and engagement, and support of corporate-wide initiatives, including integration of philanthropic efforts via associations and industry publications

Manage and oversee SAFE Credit Union’s business advocacy efforts, offering event tabling invitations to designated lines of business for community exposure, lead generation and contribution to corporate growth goals

Manage disbursement of corporate sponsorship ticket inventory, such as performing arts center and convention center tickets to create relationship building opportunities for lines of business and awareness of SAFE Credit Union among key stakeholders

Demonstrate and utilize expertise in public relations, presentation and communication skills

Manage external communications and interactions in alignment with SAFE Credit Union’s brand voice and image, to build and maintain community good will and enhance SAFE’s reputation in the region

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field of study; Master’s degree preferred. 10 years of communications/community engagement/content/growth or marketing experience, ideally with a strong mix of people and sales management and external communications. Ideal candidate would have marketing and communications experience in the financial services or sales industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial services including cash operations

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret and organize the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Must be an experienced and highly competent writer who can quickly modify a piece of content or creative for use in multiple channels in various formats. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Requires excellent communication, public speaking, and presentation skills, and the ability to coach others on the appropriate response to community issues.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent decision making, interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, and to prioritize with tight deadlines

Ability to interact well with a diverse group of technical and non-tech people, including senior executives, operations, marketing, finance; including but not limited to external clients, community leadership, members and vendors

Must be able to work well under pressure within a team environment and with all levels of management, as well as work independently and proactively with minimal direction.

Requires skill in strategic planning, project management, and event planning and team development.

Experience using the following software and systems: Branch Suite, Callahan & Associates, doc-link Smart Client, Everfi, Intuit Quickbase, Kronos, Microsoft Suite, Oracle Performance Management System Workspace (Hyperion), Performance Pro, Power BI, RoboHead, Salesforce and UltiPro
