will do the critically important job of ensuring hospice patients
are comfortable, while forging compassionate, meaningful
connections. This is important work that comes with huge
responsibility. Patients and families trust VITAS RNs to guide them
through one of life’s most difficult experiences, and honoring that
trust will be your highest priority You will be a respected member
of our team, both as a caregiver and as a hospice educator. You
will be entrusted with the autonomy to make care decisions at the
bedside, ensuring not a moment is wasted in bringing comfort to
your patients. You will help patients and their loved ones
understand and embrace the palliative—rather than curative—nature
of hospice and the benefits of comfort-focused end-of-life care.
WHERE YOU’LL WORK The On Call RN position is responsible for
working together to meet the physical, medical, psychosocial,
emotional and spiritual needs of hospice patients and families
facing terminal illness and bereavement. The 24/7 Telephone Triage
Nurses filter and triage all calls. The On-Call nurse will only get
a call to see new emergent admissions, death visits or anything
that cannot be handle via telephone. They will receive their
schedule and will be required to go to any of our locations to
provide care for their patient. Responsibilities may include
completing a RN admission, visiting a patient at an ALF, nursing
home facility, home, hospital, or medical facility. The On Call
nurse will work directly with the patient. The total amount of
visits may vary per day. This position requires a medical license.

journey. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE REGISTERED NURSE, RN Currently
licensed to practice nursing in Texas where the VITAS program is
located. A minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospice,
home health, or community health or hospital setting Equivalent
experience or licensure may be considered JOB REQUIREMENTS
Registered Nurse, RN, has reliable transportation with adequate
insurance coverage for driver and passengers. Registered Nurse, RN,
has telephone available (cellular or land line)
