Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience, ability to read and interpret EKG strips, experience with vent management Description: This position requires working in an Intensive Care Unit. Candidates should have at least 2 years of ICU experience. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 to 1:2. The unit is equipped with 8 beds. Nurses will perform their duties on a self-scheduling basis, allowing for flexibility. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. Employees will rotate holidays with core staff. The hospital uses a Cerner electronic medical record system. The charge nurse typically does not take patients but may provide break relief. There are no nurse aides present in the ICU. Telemetry is available and nurses must be able to interpret EKG strips efficiently. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available 24/7. Common patient diagnoses include stable CVA, respiratory failure, COPD, CHF, and DKA. No CABG or neurosurgery patients will be admitted to this unit. Floating to other facilities may be required. All candidates must complete a dysrhythmia exam prior to signing. A screenshot showing the number of exam attempts will also be required.
